actual picture of this morning's finished product of coffee love |
We loveeeee coffee in the Perez household. As a matter of fact, sometimes we even fall asleep excited to sip on that first cup the next morning. I'll get into what we add to our coffee on another post. But, this post is going to include some of the main items that make our coffee the magic that it is. All these items are very reasonable prices as well. We prefer our own coffee over most all of the shops in the area.
Life Hack
This may seem more time consuming at first. It takes time and practice to become proficient at anything. But, I'm telling you. You will LOVE your coffee once more. And soon it'll become as easy as pressing that red button. But, with so much more satisfaction.
The WHOLE Beans
Whole beans. Not already ground. But, freshly ground from your own home. The difference is huge! We like to buy organic beans and fair trade when possible. Trying to go fair trade with most of our top buys these day. And organic really does just taste so much better. We like to shop around when it comes to our beans. Try different brands to switch things up from time to time.
Grinder
So, of course, when your buying whole beans, you'll need your own grinder. A basic starter grinder is super reasonable and works great for the pour over method that we use. The smell of freshly ground coffee is the best! And our baby is adjusted to the loud noise the grinder makes and usually sleeps right through (bonus!).

The main item to take your coffee to next level |
Pour Over Coffee Maker
Okay, guys, I mean K cups and regular coffee makers are decent. But, why settle? Let's take the time and enjoy our coffee. These are priced awesome and make the perfect cup or cups of coffee. Soooo good! I have a really have a hard time going back to anything else once we started doing pour over. Life changing!
Gooseneck Kettle
Say what?! We started with a regular kettle since we already had one. But, once we got into our coffee game, it was time to upgrade. The gooseneck kettle pours much better over your grounds. And makes you feels so much more like a barista in the kitchen. We love ours. Highly recommend, but you can always use a regular kettle when your first starting out.
Blender
We used to blend our coffee and ingredients altogether in a nurtibullet. But, after several months the blender couldn't take the heat and eventually broke. So, we now use blender bottles. Same outcome and replacing a blender bottle isn't quite so expensive. But, it mixes all your ingredients so much better than a spoon does. And it gives your coffee that nice froth that you'd get from your local coffee shop.
Finish it off by pouring into your favorite mug. And enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Warning: once you start this method of coffee making it's hard to go any other way.
Let me know if you want another post with exactly all the fun stuff we put in our coffee to make it oh so enjoyable! And look forward to tomorrow's coffee or that second cup.
Thanks for reading!
XOXO,
Jacqui
